How we review our guides
Who signs off each guide, what it cites, how to report an error, and what we sell.
Every guide in the Fortitude21 knowledge centre ends with a line naming the date of its last review and the co-founder who approved it. This page sets out what stands behind that line.
Who signs off a guide
The ‘Last reviewed’ date comes from a signed row in our review log. Each row records the date, the guide, what the review covered and who approved it. The guide shows the date of its newest approved row and names the co-founder who approved it.
An edit does not move that date. A fixed figure or a new paragraph changes the date the guide was last modified. The review date moves only when a co-founder approves a new row.
Two co-founders approve reviews and share the guides between them. Their profiles on our About page list the guides each one signs.
What the guides cite
Each guide ends with a reference list, and each entry links to its source. We cite the law, the regulator or the standards body wherever one exists: the regulation text, the enforcing authority’s guidance or the standard itself. Some figures come from other sources, such as a shipping line’s container dimensions or a manufacturer’s data sheet, and the reference list names those too.
Reporting an error
If you find a mistake in a guide, email David@fortitude21.com with the page address and the sentence or figure in question. We check the point against its source. If the guide is wrong, we correct it and record the change in the review log.
What we sell
Fortitude21 makes and sells the containers its guides discuss: jerry cans, pails, tins and spill containment. Many guides end with a link to our products or an enquiry form. Some cover containers we do not make, such as 205-litre drums and IBC totes. The guides carry no affiliate links.
General information, not advice
The guides and free tools on this site give general information drawn from the regulations they cite. Check the rules that apply to your own load before you rely on a figure.
