Quoted on enquiry

These depend on your order, your market or the certificate that covers your run, so we quote them rather than publish one figure that would be wrong for most buyers. Ask and you get the number for your specification.

  • UN certification code
  • Approval / test certificate number
  • Minimum order quantity

Before you order: Fuel containers carry a dangerous goods certification regime that varies by destination market. Confirm requirements with us before importing.

Dimensions, material thickness, carton and container figures come from the current production specification. Empty weights are derived from the quoted net carton weight. Confirm against the drawing issued with your order.

Why It Is Built This Way

What makes this product different

01

Fits where an upright cannot

Under a boat or jet ski seat, in a vehicle locker, on a tractor or generator frame. This format solves a mounting problem rather than a capacity one.

02

Low centre of gravity

A can lying flat is far harder to tip on rough ground or a moving deck than a tall upright of the same volume.

03

Stacks to save space

Flat top and base let them stack in a store room or a container, which matters when you would otherwise be shipping air.

04

Air screw for pressure balance

A dedicated screw bleeds pressure so the pour stays smooth and the can does not deform in heat. Cheap cans omit this.

Manufacturing & Quality

How it is made, and how it is checked

Manufacturing

The body is pressed from cold-rolled steel to the pattern, seam-welded, then finished as set out in the specification above: internal coating, galvanising or powder coat according to what the can carries. Pressing runs across our Vietnam and China plants under one specification managed from Singapore, so the drawing and closure stay identical whichever plant fills the order.

Quality control

UN 3A1 certification is earned through a defined test regimen, and the can is built and verified to it:

  • Leakproofness test — seams and closure checked under air pressure
  • Internal pressure test — the body proven to its packing group
  • Drop test — a filled can dropped from the certified height
  • Stacking test — holds a warehouse stack load without distortion
  • Dimensional and finish inspection against the drawing

Certificate, test report and stamped UN marking are available for the exact design you order.

Compatible Liquids

What it holds, and what it does not

Suitable for

Petrol, diesel, kerosene and JP-08 jet fuel

Not suitable for

Acids, alkalis, food and drinking water. The steel body is built for hydrocarbon fuels and oils, so water, food and aggressive chemicals need a different line.

Compliance by market

What this product has to satisfy, market by market

The regimes that apply to this type of container in each market we ship to, with the detail behind each one a click away. This is what the market asks for; what this particular design already holds is in the specification above.

Orientation for specification, not legal advice, and not a statement that this design holds a given approval. Requirements turn on the exact design, contents and destination, and they change. Tell us the market at enquiry and we confirm what applies to your specification, what we hold and what we would need to obtain.

Questions, Answered

The things buyers ask before they order

Where does this horizontal can fit that a NATO upright will not?

The galvanised can lies flat and low, so it slides under a bench seat, into a side locker or onto a machine frame where a tall NATO can has no headroom. That low-profile stowage is the whole reason the format exists.

What can I store in the galvanised horizontal can?

It is a galvanised steel fuel can, built for petrol, diesel, kerosene and JP-08 jet fuel. Keep it to hydrocarbon fuels, since galvanised steel is not specified for water, food or acids.

Can I use this can for drinking water?

No. This is a coated-steel fuel can and it is not food-safe or potable-rated. For drinking water, look at our AISI 304 food-grade stainless water line instead.

What sizes does it come in?

Three capacities, 5, 10 and 20 litres, all in the same low horizontal footprint. Exact external dimensions for each size are on the datasheet.

Is it certified for fuel transport?

The can is UN approved, and steel fuel cans certify to UN 3A1 by design and by production plant. Ask us for the certificate covering the specific size and build you intend to order.

What do I need to sell these fuel cans in the United States or California?

US and California fuel sales carry EPA and CARB requirements on top of the UN transport marking. Tell us your destination market and we will confirm exactly what applies before you order.

How does it stay put on a moving vehicle or machine?

The low centre of gravity helps it sit stable, and it is made to be strapped or bracketed down; our holder and tie-down accessories are tooled to this geometry. Confirm your mounting position so the retention suits the terrain.

What is the closure, and why the air screw?

It uses a screw cap with a separate air screw that balances pressure so the can pours evenly instead of glugging. A flexible spout stows with the can for pouring.

Can we private-label these?

Yes. We laser etch or emboss your mark and powder coat to a RAL colour of your choice. Share your artwork and colour reference at quotation.

What are the minimum order quantity and lead time?

MOQ and lead time are quoted per order and depend on size, finish and branding, so send us the sizes and volumes you need. The cans are made in Vietnam and China and managed from our Singapore desk.
