Antistatic HDPE Jerrycan

Product code F21-IPA-05 / -10 / -20 / -25 / -30

Conductive HDPE for flammable liquids. Plain plastic holds a static charge; a conductive wall gives it somewhere to go.

Quoted on enquiry

These depend on your order, your market or the certificate that covers your run, so we quote them rather than publish one figure that would be wrong for most buyers. Ask and you get the number for your specification.

  • Surface resistivity
  • Minimum order quantity

Before you order: Static control is a system, not a container. The can is one element alongside earthing, bonding and procedure. Confirm your area classification and handling method before specifying.

Why It Is Built This Way

What makes this product different

01

The hazard is the container, not the liquid

Decanting a flammable through an insulating plastic wall generates static. A conductive body and a bonded fill point remove the ignition source.

02

Black is a specification, not a colour choice

The carbon loading that makes it conductive is what makes it black. Anyone offering conductive HDPE in white is describing something else.

03

Bonding point

Specify whether you need a bonding lug for earthing during transfer, because it has to be moulded or fitted, not added later.

04

Same stacking pattern

Identical geometry to the standard line, so mixed pallets behave predictably.

Manufacturing & Quality

How it is made, and how it is checked

Manufacturing

The can is blow-moulded from high-density polyethylene in a single seamless wall, with the neck and handle formed in the same shot, so there is no seam to split under load. The wall is carbon-loaded so the can dissipates static rather than holding a charge, for flammable-liquid handling. Moulding runs across our Vietnam and China plants under one specification managed from Singapore.

Quality control

UN 3H1 certification is earned through a defined test regimen, and the can is built and verified to it:

  • Leakproofness test — seams and closure checked under air pressure
  • Internal pressure test — the body proven to its packing group
  • Drop test — a filled can dropped from the certified height
  • Stacking test — holds a warehouse stack load without distortion
  • Dimensional and finish inspection against the drawing

Certificate, test report and stamped UN marking are available for the exact design you order.

Compatible Liquids

What it holds, and what it does not

Suitable for

Flammable liquids handled in classified areas

Not suitable for

Fuels unless the can is fluorinated, and any chemical you have not had confirmed.

Send us the exact liquid, its concentration and its temperature and we confirm it against a compatibility check before you order.

Compliance by market

What this product has to satisfy, market by market

The regimes that apply to this type of container in each market we ship to, with the detail behind each one a click away. This is what the market asks for; what this particular design already holds is in the specification above.

Orientation for specification, not legal advice, and not a statement that this design holds a given approval. Requirements turn on the exact design, contents and destination, and they change. Tell us the market at enquiry and we confirm what applies to your specification, what we hold and what we would need to obtain.

Questions, Answered

The things buyers ask before they order

Why does this can need to be antistatic?

A plain plastic wall is insulating and can build a static charge as liquid moves, which is the hazard with flammable liquids. The carbon loading makes the wall conductive so charge can be bonded away.

Which liquids is it made for?

It is specified for flammable liquids handled in classified areas, but the exact chemical still governs compatibility. Send us the liquid, its concentration and temperature and we confirm it against a chemical-compatibility check.

Can it hold acids or solvents?

HDPE resists many acids and solvents, though suitability depends on the specific substance, strength and temperature. Tell us what you are handling and we check it rather than give a blanket yes, and for heavy permeation you may need the fluorinated build as well.

Is it food-grade?

No. This is a carbon-loaded conductive can for flammables, not a food-contact can. For food or beverage use, ask us about the Food-Grade HDPE line.

Does it stop permeation on its own?

Conductive HDPE controls static, not permeation. If your flammable liquid also permeates plain HDPE, tell us and we discuss whether a fluorinated specification is needed alongside it.

Is the can enough for static safety on its own?

No. The can is one part of a system that includes earthing, bonding and procedure, and it works through its bonding point. Confirm your area classification and handling method before specifying it.

Is it UN certified, and which packing group?

It is available UN 3H1 certified, tied to the specific contents, packing group and fill weight. Confirm the packing group of your exact liquid with us and we tell you which certificate and design covers it.

Why is it only available in black?

The black is the carbon loading that makes the wall conductive, so it is a specification rather than a colour choice. In-line marking is still available for private-label programmes.

Can I reuse it, and how long does it last?

Clean HDPE can be reused, subject to a service life measured from its date of manufacture that matters for regulated reuse. Ask us for the manufacturing date and reuse guidance for your contents.

What sizes are available, and what are the order terms?

It comes in 5, 10, 20, 25 and 30 litre. Minimum order and lead time come on quotation, and the cans are moulded in Vietnam and China and managed from Singapore.
